We haven't actually been *trying* to teach Otto to read...He's just kind of picking it up- I've read a lot of stuff about making it personal for kids- we did encourage him to recognize his name (mostly for daycare- to recognize his coat, waterbottle, etc.) and it has just snowballed from there. He wants to know what things say so we tell him! No flash cards or anything like that :)

And yeah he loves pretty much any kind of puzzle- right now we have 24 piece cardboard ones from the dollar store that he love love loves. I've also printed some family pictures, glued them to cardboard (I like old cereal boxes) and then cut up into puzzles. They are great for being out at restaurants, etc!Birdiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08191274004993532743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7303122556951662705.post-44512127179717350132010-10-15T20:16:00.370-06:002010-10-15T20:16:00.370-06:00Holy shit, am I envious of your actually getting e...Holy shit, am I envious of your actually getting exercise.

And beyond holy shit at the whole reading thing. I've gone the whole Waldorf route with A, not even thinking about teaching him to read for another couple years. But when I see this about Otto (and way back when he first wrote his name), I question the whole concept. If A *could* be reading now, why not teach him? He would absolutely eat it up.

And what do you mean by puzzles? Wooden puzzles? The Schneldaleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00900537213680658017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7303122556951662705.post-30184753004230587322010-10-15T14:40:12.392-06:002010-10-15T14:40:12.392-06:00At least in girls clothes, Gap is known for long a...At least in girls clothes, Gap is known for long and skinny stuff. They are our go to for jeans once M got over the baby chub phase. Know a woman who works for them and they gear towards the tall ones.Amelia Sprouthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10773792930391254801noreply@blogger.com
