Ask a policeman if you can tase someone!

Having been a devoted reader for years at this point, I can safely say that I love this woman.

Here's to being furiously happy.  And the zombie apocalypse.

(Some of the) Things that make me Weird

For some reason, I've been getting a lot of (half-joking...I think)  "you're so WEIRD's"  in the past few days from friends and family alike.  Usually, its as a reaction to my warped sense of humor or my random quoting of movie lines that gets this reaction.  But then I start thinking...maybe I am really weird?

1.  I love voting.  I don't know...is that weird?  Primary elections are happening here today and I hit the polls before work and savored every little bubble I got to color in.

2.  In the same vein, I also love filling out forms.  Of any sort really.  The doctor's office, tax forms, whatever.  I see a clipboard coming my way, I get all anticipatory and start rubbing my palms together like a comic book villain.   I loved playing school/secretary as a child and would gleefully design and then fill out my own forms.

3.  I really, really, REALLY hate to have the bottom of my feet touched, especially the arches.   I'm super ticklish and it makes me feel all violated and ooky.  Consequently, I am not a person who enjoys foot massages.  I know!  Weird.

4.  I love Neil Diamond.  Dudes.  Sweet Caroline is the SHIZ.

5.  I hate Tom Cruise.  Although, maybe that's not that weird.

And just for fun, here's a picture I took this weekend that was supposed to be of the fog rolling over the mountains as I drove up over the summit, but just turned out to be a picture of my dirty car window.  You're welcome.

Takin' it to the Limit

So I got a wild hair the other day when I read somewhere that rollerskating burns like 800 calories an hour.  I remembered how much I used to love skating and decided to post on our community's Freecycle message board to see if anyone had some skates to give away.  In the fortuitous way that freecycling can sometimes be, about 20 minutes later I got an email from a person, not 8 blocks from my house saying Yes!  They had some old skates collecting dust, exactly my size.   I love them so much and am guessing they are maybe about as old as I am :-)...

And so last night found me clumsily rolling back and forth in front of my house, using my son as a balancing tool.  It was the most fun I've had in days.

Happy weekend, y'all.

Its Friday, not Wednesday but.....

First: check out today's Tee at TeeFury. WANT. (Today's tee is a Flight of the Conchords shirt...If you check on any day other than today (Friday) you'll get whatever that day's tee is...)

Which leads me, naturally, here:

You're welcome.

Just for fun

Its Friday!

Here's a laugh just for you. Zack Galifinakis is one of the funniest people out there and his talk show, Between Two Ferns is completely, totally, 100% awesome.

Special guest on this episode is Natalie Portman. Enjoy.

Its been a while...

...since I did a silly blog meme. 'Bout time, non?

What is your current obsession?
Wes Anderson movies, Moscow Mules (for a recipe go here...so yummy for summer!), babysitting my garden, Aviator sunglasses, Pride Prejudice and Zombies...

What's for dinner?
In a world where I could have whatever I wanted?
Sushi. Realistically? Probably tacos.

What's the last thing you bought?
Cute tops at the consignment store.

What are you listening to right now?
Coconut Records

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Hrm...this is a tough one. Its tempting to say "back to bed," but. Assuming I were well rested, I'd have to say I'd love to be in a museum somewhere with a big cup of tea and lovely, thought-provoking art to view.

What's your favorite quote (for now)?
"You never say, 'I'm gonna fight you, Steve.' You just smile and act natural, and then you sucker-punch him. " - The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

What's your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
Converse sneaks, yo. Oh, and I love a good zip-up hoodie.

What's your dream job?
Is there such as thing as a world-traveling, full-time mom/film critic who also gets to see lots of live music? Because...yeah that.

What's your worst habit?
Chewing my cuticles.

Do you admire anyone's style?
Totally. All the time. Again, the look of any Wes Anderson movie is stylistically so great. I also tend to love old Hollywood style- the classics, like Audrey Hepburn. Nowadays? Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley has fantastic style...

Describe your personal style?
Um...Relaxed indie-rock mom with a little thrift store chic thrown in for good measure.

What are your favorite movies?
Star Wars, Rushmore, Darjeeling Limited, the Life Aquatic, Royal Tennenbaums, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, The Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady...

What inspires you?
My family, my friends. My kid. Movies, books, music. Nature. The usual stuff.

What's your favorite book?
There's really no way to choose just one favorite...I love Dracula by Bram Stoker, The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte...my favorite book from childhood is probably Where the Wild Things Are.

Do you collect something?
Not religiously, no. If anything, I collect books and movies- I love 70's horror films and Victorian-era science fiction. Tattoos, maybe. ( I'm up to 7...)

What do you like most about yourself?
My brainz.

What's your go-to nail polish color?
None.

Tag. You're it.

"It Would Be So Funny If He Drove a Miata..."

*In annoying sing-songy voice:*

ITS MY FRIDAY. OH YEAH. ITS MY FRIDAY.

For reals. We are taking a 4 day weekend and driving to our hometown to visit the husband's parents for the weekend. I'm actually looking forward to the mini-road trip and the change of scenery for a couple of days.

But.

Since it is my Friday, here's a humorous treat. JUST FOR YOU.

And warning: its a teensy bit racy so it might not be safe for work, unless you work in a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Like I do.

Enjoy.

Friday = Fun Day

I really should be posting Otto's 5 month letter but I'd like to add pictures and finding time to download them off our camera is hard, people!

So instead, here is some nonsense. Enjoy.
